Spiritual Gifts

Hopefully everyone has had the chance to watch the video.  I do like how he broke out some of the spiritual gifts.  He also pointed out some places to go look for spiritual gifts that you might be blessed with.  For example, we can all look at the temple and certain blessings that we are blessed with through the ordinances. We don't need to share the spiritual gifts that we individually have, but I thought this would be a good area to discuss or define spiritual gifts.  The scriptures only mention some of them and for us to find out what gifts we have, we kind of need to know what a spiritual gift even is.  I think one of the hardest things is separating physical talents and spiritual gifts.  Helping each other identify spiritual gifts may help identify your own spiritual gifts.  Knowing them, we can do what the Lord has asked us to do with them and not bury them.

As members of the church, we can name a few just from receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.  And then those that have gone through the temple should be able to name quite a few more from the ordinances.  What other spiritual gifts are there?  And how would we be able to sharpen that spiritual gift?

Next, for your personal or companion study, what are some spiritual gifts that you are wanting to attain?

I also send a small challenge that might take the rest of the year. (I think it might be interesting to see what everyone pulls out). Use a copy of the book of mormon, like a proselyting copy, and label on the side "spiritual gifts." As you read through, make notes and mark up the scriptures of anything that you feel prompted is a spiritual gift.  As we go through the reading, we can discuss what we find, or discuss any questions that we have about our findings to confirm thoughts or gain more insight

  1. One I experience is the ability to see things as they are vs how they should be quickly.
